According to a report by Reuters on June 12, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism recently issued an order requiring Honda, Nissan and other automakers to decide whether to increase the number of recalls for Takata's hidden airbags. The decision date is until the end of June.
It is reported that Honda, Nissan, Mazda and BMW Japan Branch have received orders. Takada said it is willing to replace the faulty airbag generator and support the decision to expand the number of recalls.
Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism also asked Japanese auto lobbying groups to inform automakers to pay close attention to the information released when the world recalled 2.3 million vehicles. Some of the 2.3 million vehicles have been recalled for the second time.
In 2013 alone, Japanese companies such as Honda and Nissan recalled 3.6 million vehicles worldwide due to faulty airbags provided by Takata.
Since the end of 2008, many automakers have recalled more than 7 million vehicles worldwide due to Takata's fail-safe airbags. Among them, Honda recalled the largest number of cars.
