"Nihon Keizai Shimbun" reported that Japanese automakers have expanded their production capabilities in Southeast Asian countries. Southeast Asian countries with Japanese cars accounting for 90% of the market share have gradually become important markets and production bases for Japanese auto companies to achieve new development.

Nissan Motors plans to increase the sales rate of automobiles in Southeast Asian countries from 6.9% in 2011 to 15% to 500,000 vehicles by 2016, and the production capacity will double to 700,000 vehicles. At the same time, the “DATSUN” small energy-consumption vehicle for emerging markets will be launched in 2014 to capture the low-price car market; Toyota Motor will implement an emerging country development strategy, focusing on the small-car market, and strengthening the production capacity in factories such as Thailand and India. While expanding the small car market in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries, it is actively exploring the South American market and expanding its automotive sales network to more than 100 countries and regions. Honda Motors plans to sell new cars for Southeast Asian countries in Indonesia during the year, “BRIO”. It plans to increase the Indonesia plant's production capacity from the current 60,000 units to 180,000 within 3 years, and the local procurement rate will increase from the current 50% to 80%; Mitsubishi Motors will produce a low-emission small-car "MIRAGE" at a new plant in Thailand. It will use Thailand as its production base to export to Europe, America and Japan.
