Michelin showcases its sustainable mobile innovations in France

On September 26, 2011, Michelin attended the Innovation Technology Forum organized by the French Agency for Environment and Energy Management (ADEME) for the second consecutive year. This time, the forum was held at the Palais des Nations. In this grand event, Michelin showcased a sustainable mobile project developed by its advanced mobile performance R&D center. After successful cooperation with numerous manufacturers, these projects have received financial support from ADEME and the government.

At the ADEME Forum, Michelin mainly showed four projects:

The Forewheel project is aimed at electric vehicles equipped with the Michelin "Active Wheel" technology, which is characterized by the direct integration of electric motors, suspension systems and braking systems into two or four wheels of the car. Michelin is responsible for leading the R&D process of the project.

Velroue is a project that Michelin and Renault have worked closely together to develop and test the performance of dual-mode multi-purpose vehicles based on the Renault Kangoo Concept. The so-called dual-mode multi-purpose, that is, the vehicle can be driven by electric power with two electric engines of the rear wheels when driving on urban roads, and when traveling on a long-distance tour, the vehicles are switched to the conventional mode and driven using an optimized internal combustion engine.

ELLISUP is a fast charging electric bus and hybrid bus project jointly launched by Michelin and Irisbus of Spain. The project is based on a 12-metre standard passenger car equipped with a lithium battery, a super capacitor and a hub motor.

Fuel cell project. Michelin participates in and is advancing the F-CITY H2 project. Its main research and development content is to connect a fuel cell based on common batteries. Once successfully developed, it will make the first hydrogen-powered car that meets European Union Regulation 79/2009 certification available in France.
