Why does the rear axle of a dangerous goods truck use an airbag suspension?

Dangerous goods transportation vehicles previously mentioned the requirements to reduce danger include front exhaust pipes and front disc rear drum brakes. Recently, a car company updated the original rear axle leaf spring suspension into an airbag suspension device. The original notice stipulated that: from January 2020, all dangerous chemicals transport vehicles must be suspended by airbags. From October 23, the car factory will stop accepting orders for China V ’s non-airborne dangerous goods, while Orders for non-empty and dangerous logistics products of the National Five must be executed unconditionally.

In fact, the provisions of this notice are not groundless, but are formulated in accordance with the GB7258-2017 "Technical Conditions for Motor Vehicle Operation Safety" promulgated by the state in October 2017. Article 9.4 of this standard stipulates: the rear axles of dangerous goods transport trucks with a total mass of 12,000 kg or more, all dangerous goods transport vehicles, and three-axle slatted, barrage vehicles. In fact, the provisions of this notice are not groundless, but are formulated in accordance with the GB7258-2017 "Technical Conditions for Motor Vehicle Operation Safety" promulgated by the state in October 2017. Article 9.4 of this standard stipulates that the rear axles of dangerous goods transport trucks with a total mass of 12,000 kg or more, all dangerous goods transport vehicles, as well as three-axle balusters and barrage trucks shall be equipped with air suspension. The transition period of this regulation is 24 months, requiring all newly produced hazardous chemicals vehicles to be equipped with air suspension devices as of January 1, 2020. So what exactly is an air suspension and what are its pros and cons?

The air suspension uses air as the elastic medium.

The definition of an air suspension is to use an air spring as the elastic element and air as the elastic medium. The compressed air is flushed into the sealed container, and the compressibility and elasticity of the air are used to achieve the shock absorption effect of the vehicle.

Simply put, the traditional leaf spring suspension is replaced by an air spring. The air spring sealed airbag is full of air, and its working principle is similar to that of a balloon, except that the airbag has a bearing capacity that is infinitely higher than the balloon, and has a positioning limiter.

The use of air suspension for dangerous chemicals vehicles is more from a safety perspective

Hazardous chemical transport trucks are equipped with airbag suspension standards for safety reasons. Since most of the goods carried by dangerous goods are flammable and explosive liquids or gases, the more stable the goods are during transportation, the higher the safety of the goods. Compared with the traditional steel suspension, the air suspension has better shock absorption effect, and the truck with air suspension has better body stability when driving.

â–ŽThe air suspension is also lightweight, long life and fuel-saving features make it more popular in the hazardous chemicals industry

1. In addition to being more stable, the air suspension also has a number of features that make it more conducive to the transportation of hazardous chemicals:

Compared with traditional steel suspension, air suspension is lighter. For example, the total mass of an flammable gas van with 8X4 airbag suspension is about 1000 kg less than that of a flammable gas van with a steel plate suspension. The reduction in total mass is equivalent to the vehicle being able to carry more cargo, and the vehicle's fuel consumption is lower, the better the overall vehicle efficiency.

2. The smoothness of the air suspension is good, which is conducive to the longer service life of the vehicle parts.

The degree of wear of vehicle components is directly related to the smoothness of the vehicle. When the vehicle is more stable, the service life of the components will be longer, so that the entire life cycle cost of the vehicle is lower.

According to data, vehicles using air suspension can extend the service life of tires by 10% and lower fuel consumption, which is especially suitable for working conditions with unilateral venting.

3. Improved transportation efficiency.

Because of the vehicle with airbag suspension, the height of the frame can be adjusted with the inflation and compression of the airbag, so it is more respectable when loading and unloading the goods and the transportation efficiency is higher.

较高 The more expensive airbag suspension is more suitable for standard transport so it is not widely used in all models

Air suspension is more expensive than leaf springs, which does not require a majority. On the other hand, vehicles using airbag suspension have stricter requirements on the cargo tonnage carried by the vehicle, so they have not been widely used in trucks. Although the air suspension is rarely used on the ordinary truck rear axle, it is widely used in the front and rear suspensions of heavy truck cabs. For example, the front and rear suspensions of Dongfeng Jiefang's cab use airbag suspension devices. Vehicles with airbag suspension on axles are mainly used in companies with fixed cargo or routes. Due to the special nature of the goods, such as precision instruments, tobacco, hazardous chemicals or high-value glass-ceramic fragile products, their transportation requires very high smoothness of the vehicle. Therefore, some business owners prefer to buy airbag suspension vehicle.
