2020: Establishing an Electric Vehicle Industry Chain

The Ministry of Science and Technology recently released the “National Key R&D Program for New Energy Vehicle Key Special Implementation Plan (Draft for Soliciting Opinions)” and plans to establish a complete electric vehicle power system technology system and industrial chain by 2020.

At present, new technologies for the transformation of new energy vehicles, centering on the three major technologies of power electrification, lightweight structure, and vehicle intelligence, are under way. In the next 5 to 10 years, the global automotive industry will usher in an important period of strategic opportunities for restructuring, transformation and upgrading. The data shows that China's new energy bus technology industrialization ranks first in the world. The new energy car technology industrialization ranks second in the world. In January of this year, the production of new energy vehicles in China grew nearly five times year-on-year. However, in this regard, the industry is worried about the market that is relying on subsidies to boost the heat, because no one industry can rely on subsidies to maintain long-term. Jiang Jinhuai, chairman of JAC, puts forward: “We need to continue to break through with the use of mileage, mileage and service life of fuel trucks, increase the construction of charging piles and charging stations, and finally business model innovation.”

Insiders pointed out that China and the United States have become the world's largest market for new energy vehicles. Although the sales of new energy vehicles in China still lags behind 40,000 in the US market in 2014, due to the policy dependence of the new energy vehicle market itself. As well as China's unique policy and efficient system, China's new energy auto market will surpass the US market in the past year or two and become the world's largest new energy auto market.

According to reports, the National Key Research and Development Program for Key New Energy Vehicles Implementation Plan is being solicited for comments on the specific parameters involved in the core technologies involved in electric vehicles, such as the specific energy of the battery and the technical level of the drive motor. A clear target will provide technical support for achieving 5 million new energy vehicle ownership by 2020.

Data show that in January this year, China's new energy vehicles produced 6,599 vehicles, an increase of nearly 5 times year-on-year. Among them, pure electric passenger cars produced 2,108 vehicles, an increase of nearly 5 times year-on-year, and 2,278 units of plug-in hybrid passenger cars were produced, an increase of nearly 7 times year-on-year; 1,343 units of pure electric commercial vehicles were produced, an increase of nearly 6 times year-on-year. Electric hybrid commercial vehicles produced 870 vehicles, which was nearly double the year-on-year increase.
