China's first 300,000-ton oil storage ship launched in Shanghai

Recently, China has built the 300,000-ton offshore floating production and storage vessel (FPSO) with the largest tonnage, the highest cost and the latest technology, and successfully launched the No. 2 dock at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., marking this world-class ship project. Entering the critical terminal mooring test phase will lay the foundation for the completion of delivery in May next year. It is understood that the contract amount of the ship is as high as 240 million US dollars, more than the cost of an empty A380 aircraft.

The FPSO has a total length of 323 meters and a width of 63 meters, which is equivalent to the area of three standard football fields; the depth is 32.5 meters, and the distance from the bottom of the ship to the chimney is 71 meters, which is equivalent to the height of 24 floors. The vessel is full of draught 20 meters, can process 190,000 barrels of qualified crude oil per day, and has a storage capacity of 2 million barrels. This is not only the largest FPSO to undertake the largest tonnage in China, but also the largest mechanical and electrical product exported by China to the United States. It marks that Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has occupied an important position in the field of international marine engineering.

According to reports, the 300,000-ton FPSO will be used for the second phase development of China's Bohai Penglai 19-3 oilfield. The shipowner is ConocoPhillips China Ltd., a subsidiary of ConocoPhillips. The second phase development project of Penglai 19-3 Oilfield is a multinational cooperation project jointly funded and jointly managed and operated by CNOOC Corporation and ConocoPhillips China Co., Ltd., and 300,000 tons of FPSO is one of the subprojects.
