According to foreign media reports, Isuzu Motors Corp. recently built a truck manufacturing plant in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and held an opening ceremony on December 12.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce Dr. Tawfig Alrabiah, Isuzu’s Chairman Hosoi and other 200 leaders attended the opening ceremony.
The truck manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia will produce 600 Forward medium-duty trucks in the first year, and will continue to produce heavy-duty and light-duty trucks in succession. Production will gradually increase and the target annual output will reach 25,000. Isuzu Motor Company chose to build the plant here mainly because it will be closer to the Gulf countries in the future and the cost will be lower.
In 2011, Isuzu’s commercial vehicle sales in Saudi Arabia were 11,000, which is expected to reach 14,000 this year. The company stated that it will strengthen the expansion of its business in the Middle East in the future. At present, the company has also established a service center in Dubai and has begun operations.
