One, debugging failure
Usually occurs during the initial installation and commissioning of the instrument. Once the instrument is improved, the electromagnetic flowmeter can be eliminated. Such failures are generally caused by improper installation of the sensor. For example, the sensor is installed at the high point of the industrial pipe network where gas is likely to accumulate. The liquid is directly discharged into the atmosphere through the flow sensor, forming a phenomenon that the meter tube is not full and the sensor is installed in the fluid itself. On the up and down vertical pipes, it is easy to form emptying.
2. Environmental aspects
Most of the failures caused by the external environment are caused by interference of the instrument with external electromagnetic waves, motor magnetic fields, and stray currents. External electromagnetic interference is mainly introduced by signal cables, and usually single- or multi-layer shielding is used for protection. Current interference is usually taken with good individual ground protection to obtain satisfactory measurements.
3. Fluids
Micro-bubbles in fluids generally do not affect normal electromagnetic flow meter measurements, except that the measured fluid volume flow is the sum of fluid and gas. The increase of microbubbles in the fluid will cause the output signal of the flowmeter to change. If the microbubbles in the fluid increase to cover the entire surface of the electrode, the electrode signal loop will be instantaneously disconnected, so that the measured output signal will be relatively large. Variety.
Second, the operating period failure
Electromagnetic flowmeters produce operational faults due to fouling on the inner wall of the electromagnetic flow sensor, lightning strikes on the meter, and changes in environmental conditions measured by the flowmeter.
Inner wall adhesion layer
Since the fluids measured by the electromagnetic flowmeter mostly contain suspended solids or contaminated bodies, the frequency of the faults appearing on the adhesive layer on the inner wall of the electromagnetic flow sensor is high. If the conductivity of both the adherent layer and the liquid is close, the instrument can still perform normal signal output. Only changing the flow area of ​​the fluid will lead to invisible failure of measurement error; if the adhesion layer is of high conductivity, the potential between the electrodes of the electromagnetic flow sensor will be short-circuited; if the adhesion layer is insulative, the surface of the electrode of the electromagnetic flow sensor will be broken by insulation. Measured circuit opened. The latter two phenomena require cleaning the adhesive layer or replacing the sensor to make the instrument work properly.
Lightning strike
When a line strikes a lightning, it will generate a very high voltage and surge current instantaneously, and the instrument will be easily damaged after a lightning strike. Lightning strikes enter the instrument in three main ways: the instrument power line, the excitation and flow signal lines between the transducer and the sensor. From the analysis of instrument components damaged during a lightning fault, most of the lightning strikes into the instrument through the control room's power line lead to a failure, while the other two approaches are less.
