The Yangtze River freight volume has set a new record for the sixth consecutive year

A few days ago, in 2012, the Yangtze River's cargo volume reached 1.8 billion tons. While refreshing historical records, it also set a new record for the world's inland shipping for six consecutive years.

According to reports, in 2012, the number of production berths on the Yangtze River trunk line reached 4,114, of which 421 were 10,000-ton berths; the number of tens of millions of tons of major ports had reached 10; and the Yangtze River Trunk Line had achieved a cargo throughput of 1.8 billion tons, again setting a new record. At the same time, speeding up the construction of key waterways, supporting support system projects, and the development of new ship types, the 2012 long-term aviation bureau system completed a total investment of 2.81 billion yuan, creating the best historical record.

At present, the trend of large-scale cargo ships on the Yangtze River is obvious. The average tonnage of the main cargo ships has reached 1,080 tons, and the average tonnage of cargo ships in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region has reached 1,800 tons. The shipping supply capacity has greatly increased and it has reached a record high.
