Toyota Motor Sales in China May Increase More Than 10% Next Year

General Motors reported that Masahiro Kato, general manager of Toyota Motor Corporation China, said that Toyota's sales in China in 2011 may increase by more than 10% year-on-year.

This year, Toyota expects its Chinese car sales to increase 13% year-on-year to 800,000. Toyota is the world's largest carmaker. It introduced the Lexus RX 270 SUV, IS 250 sedan and IS 250 convertible to the Chinese market on August 24.

As inflation led to lower disposable income for residents and the Chinese government took measures to cool the economy, demand for passenger cars in China declined in July, and Toyota’s supply to dealers increased by 13.6% year-on-year. The month with the lowest increase since the month.

Kato Yata said that in August, Toyota China sold better than in July, up 1% year-on-year to 64,200 vehicles. After recalling 75,552 RAV4SUVs in China in February this year and repairing the accelerator pedal, sales of the model have been more than expected.
