On June 20, Fu Peizhao, deputy secretary-general of the Automotive Subcommittee of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, revealed that China’s auto exports have experienced rapid growth in recent years. In 2007, the number of exports and the amount of exports are expected to reach 510,000 vehicles and US$5.6 billion, respectively.
According to reports, China's auto exports have been growing rapidly for three consecutive years, of which exports reached 834,500 units in 2006, an increase of 97.2% year-on-year, and the amount of exports was USD 3.134 billion, an increase of 97.8% year-on-year. From January to April of 2007, China’s auto exports amounted to 141,800, and the export value was US$1.61 billion. The export volume and amount had reached 41% and 51% of last year's total.
It is understood that China's export vehicles are mainly commercial vehicles, mainly heavy trucks, large and medium-sized passenger cars and special-purpose vehicles, which account for 65% of the export volume of vehicles and 72% of the export value, while exports of cars, light buses and off-road vehicles are exported. It accounts for 35% of the export volume and 28% of the export amount. According to the statistics for the first half of 2006 and 2007, car exports began to increase substantially.
China's automobile export regions are diversified. The Middle East, Asia, and Africa are the traditional markets for China's auto vehicle exports. Europe, especially Eastern Europe, has developed rapidly and is becoming one of the major export markets for China's automobiles.
