In the preliminary planning of the Wuhan plant, in addition to the traditional four workshops (welding, stamping, painting, assembly) and engine production lines, Dongfeng Renault will also establish an R&D center and supporting public and auxiliary environmental protection projects. After the planned Wuhan Rendong Renault 150,000 passenger car production project is completed, it will mainly produce SUVs and MPV models.
On July 26 last year, Renault-Nissan joint CEO Carlos Ghosn stated that Renault achieved domestic production before 2016 when Dongfeng Limited released the “new mid-term business plan†for 2011-2015. If the contract is signed in 2013 and the joint venture is registered, the plant will be built in 2-3 years. Dongfeng Renault is expected to start production in 2015, which is in line with Ghosn's plan.

It is understood that the direct reason for the reorganization of Sanjiang Reynolds was the rejection by the Development and Reform Commission of the project submitted by Renault and Dongfeng Group for the joint production of passenger cars.
