working principle:

Using Zener breakdown characteristics of a Zener diode, high-frequency signals with frequencies up to several hundred MHz can be obtained. The circuit is shown in the figure. The signal taken from the output V02 is a wide-spectrum high-frequency signal and can perform the adjustment between the input resonance circuit and the local oscillation tuning circuit in the super-heterodyne type radio. The frequency range of the generator is l00kHz ~ 27MHz, and is divided into five frequency bands 100kHz ~ 300kHz ~ lMHz ~ 3MHz ~ 9MHz ~ 27MHz. The output voltage of the signal generator is about 9mV. The coils L1 to L5 are wound on a skeleton having a fine-tuned magnetic core, L1 to L3 are enameled with φ0.1 mm, and L4 and L5 are enameled with φ0.2 mm. The number of turns of L1 to L5 is 270+270, 260, 80, 30 and 10 turns. After assembly, calibrate with a standard signal generator and make a frequency scale on the knob of variable capacitor C3. Adjust potentiometer RP to make the output high frequency signal strongest. There is no special requirement for the regulator tube used in the circuit, but the supply voltage should be higher than the regulation value to ensure that the regulator works at the inflection point of the characteristic curve.
