MAN introduces the latest technology marine diesel engine

In order to meet the latest emission standards, MAN, based in Nuremberg, Germany, has introduced a high-speed marine diesel engine using the latest common rail technology.
The D2868 marine high-speed diesel engine is the first common-rail 8-cylinder diesel engine that MAN introduced for medium and heavy-duty ships. Thanks to the latest common rail technology, the D2868 marine high-speed diesel engine can meet most international emission standards without the use of specific exhaust gas treatment equipment. In addition, this highly efficient diesel engine can improve fuel consumption and reduce noise emissions. Due to the classification of the D2868 marine high-speed diesel engine, the applicable range of ship owners and captains has been improved. As a light load, the D2868 LE 423 marine high-speed diesel engine has been successfully applied.
As a heavy load, the high-efficiency D2868 LE421 marine diesel engine has a power of 441 kW (600 hp) at 1800 rpm (100% of the time is fully loaded and the annual operating time is not limited). Thanks to the introduction of the D2868 LE421 marine high-speed diesel engine, MAN's high-speed diesel engine coverage power range will be expanded. The D2868 LE421 marine high-speed diesel engine is therefore an attractive solution, especially for low horsepower ranges. Efficient 8-cylinder marine diesel engines ensure reliable operation of tugboats, pushers and workboats with low maintenance costs and low fuel consumption. The MAN D2868 LE421 marine diesel engine will be launched in the first quarter of 2013.
As a medium load, the performance of the D2868 LE422 marine high-speed diesel engine, which runs for 3,000 hours per year and has a full-load running time of 50%, has been expanded compared to previous models. The D2868 LE422 marine high-speed diesel engine can be powered up to 588 kW (800 hp) at rated speeds of 2,100 rpm. This machine can replace the unclassifiable D2848 LE422 marine high-speed diesel engine and provide 10% more power at the same rated speed. This highly efficient 8-cylinder machine is the first choice for passenger ships, fishing boats and patrol boats. The machine features low fuel consumption and high operational reliability. In the first quarter of 2013, MAN will introduce the D 2868 LE422 marine high-speed diesel engine.
