At present, the relocation of the Kumho Tire Nanjing Plant is proceeding as planned. The Jinhu Nanjing New Plant site is located in Qiaolin New District, Pukou Economic Development Zone, Nanjing.
In 2011, the Jinhu Tire Nanjing Plant entered the environmental blacklist and was listed as a key polluting enterprise by the Nanjing Environmental Protection Bureau. At the request of the government, it began to plan the relocation.
At the end of 2014, Kumho reached an agreement with the local government on the issue of compensation and completed the site selection. In January 2015, the new plant of Kumho Tire Pukou broke ground.
Kumho Tire said that after the relocation work, the company will combine the car tire (PCR) plant and the truck and bus tire (TBR) factory to significantly increase production efficiency. Moreover, the new plant will introduce high-end equipment and technology to create a high-end environmentally friendly factory.
According to the plan, Kumho will complete the construction of the new plant in June 2016 and complete the handover of the old plant by the end of December 2016.
Li Hanzhen, chairman of Kumho (China) Tire Sales Co., Ltd. said that the total investment of the new plant in Nanjing reached 480 million US dollars, with an overall area of ​​668 acres.
Kumho Tire said that more room for development can be achieved through factory relocation, and the new plant will provide local automakers with high quality OE tire products.
It is reported that the Kumho Tire Nanjing Plant was built in 1994 and is the first tire factory of a Korean company in China. Up to now, in addition to the Nanjing plant, Kumho Tire has opened factories in Tianjin and Changchun, and has a technology center in Tianjin, with a production capacity of 30 million in China.
