RAIN RFID Alliance: RFID industry in retail industry is accelerating

The RAIN RFID Alliance announced that passive ultra high frequency (UHF) RFID technology based on GS1 and ISO standards has been adopted by many of the world's leading retailers to improve inventory management. More than 100 retailers and brands including 7-11, Zara, Burberry, C&A, Decathlon, H&M, La Chapelle, Lululemon, Macy's, Marks & Spencer, Target and TESCO have publicly acknowledged that they are using the technology.

According to the RAIN RFID Alliance, the popularity of RFID in the retail apparel industry is accelerating. According to a recent market survey, the garment industry will use 8.5 billion passive RFID tags in 2018.

Robert Beideman, senior vice president of solutions and innovation at GS1, said in a prepared statement: "The successful implementation of RAIN RFID has increased the visibility of the global supply chain and helped keep pace with the changing needs of consumers and trading partners. Make sure that the item appears at the right place at the right time."

RAIN RFID Alliance President Steve Halliday said in a statement: "Today's retail inventory management is becoming more and more complex, brand owners are also promoting omni-channel retail, which means that retailers need to take full advantage of RAIN RFID technology. Deploy RAIN RFID retail The accuracy of commercial inventory reached 98%, and the shortage of goods was reduced by 50%, which also increased sales and profitability."
